I'm a kinesiologist - kinesiology is the study of movement - so understanding baseball mechanics is what I'm trained to do. Just to reiterate, I'm a kinesiologist - kinesiology is the study of movement - so understanding baseball mechanics is what I'm trained to do. Too many coaches try to imitate big league players, but don't understand why. Each analysis I do explains why your current mechanics are flawed and how they're limiting your on field performance. This boosts your understanding of how you need to change instead of just telling you what to do. That way you can continue to think and work through the adjustments you need to make well beyond the analysis that I give you. Now that's true value!
It's one thing for a coach or instructor to provide feedback verbally that you have to hope you can repeat based on "feel" when they're not around. And it's an entirely different story when you can actually see yourself perform the movements. Visual feedback is the quickest and clearest way to know if you're performing the way you should.
You can use each analysis to compare side-by-side over time. Seeing the positive changes in your mechanics - and therefore your performance - will reinforce what is working and give you the confidence to continue practicing each skill for further improvement.
You don't just need to know what you're doing wrong, but how to work on fixing the problem. Receiving drills tailored to your needed corrections provides a foundation for measurable progress
Just because you can't meet in person, doesn't mean you can't improve for the day. Video analysis helps thousands of players every day gain a better understanding of what they're doing well and what they need to work on. It's a highly powerful and heavily underutilized tool at the amateur level. It's a quick and effective way to track towards your personal goals in between practice sessions. If you're serious about getting better, you should absolutely have a professional analysis done!
